Overview
More
In the heart of Ireland, just over 1 hour from Dublin lies the town of Kilbeggan, home to the world's oldest distillery, established in 1757. It is the quintessential Irish whiskey distillery - whitewashed walls, weathered slate roof, brick chimney stack, creaking timber water wheel, even regular ghost sightings. This is no mere "visitor centre" but a real working distillery run by a team of young enthusiastic craftspeople (and a few wise old heads too), skilled in the traditional ways of making Irish whiskey. Open 7 days (except during Christmas and New Year). Whiskey Bar. Gift Shop. Free parking.

This was a great distillery tour! We had been to Midleton for the Jameson Experience and were going to go to Tullamore Dew but a local told about Kilbeggan and we are so glad they did. It is smaller and more intimate and less commercial...More

A very easy visit, the distillery is not very big but it was very interesting. There is a good cafe and of course a little bar where you sample different whiskies and you can purchase bottles with personalised labels which make a lovely present/gift.

We have visited many distilleries and this one is a good one to see. Much of it is really just for visitors to see a slice of history but there are two working stills so you can see whiskey actually being produced. Well worth visiting.

We did a quick visit to this distillery because it was on our way to Galway. We didn’t do the tour, just browsed. The people were helpful. We tried some whiskey (a flight of four), all were good but the peat flavored whiskey was not...More

Part of Ancestry tour. Had a wonderful guide. Took us through all the old distillery and explained the whiskey making process. Ended up with a tasting in the modern part.

Maybe it's because I loved absolutely everything that I tasted. Maybe it's the age and the history of the place. Maybe it's the out of the way, non-touristy setting. Maybe it's the cool cat in the parking lot. Maybe it's the combination of the above....More

Charlie was our guide and he was great! Young but he definitely knew his stuff, he kept it interesting and fun and not stuffy at all. If you have about an hour to spare, it is worth taking this tour. The distillery is small and...More

A very nice visit! Our tour guide, Charlie, gave quite an animated explanation. We had the chance to taste the whisky and we could take our little glas home. Fun visit!

There are plenty of whiskey distillery tours to do in Ireland. My husband is a whiskey drinker but even he just wanted to do one. So we chose the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland and it was the right choice. They show you their old...More
