Although we arrived relatively early (10.45 a.m.) and there were only about 10 people in the area, by the time we walked back from the 'island' it was like Blackpool at it's worst, with sunbeds everywhere, people playing music, swilling lager cans, etc., etc. The walk all the way to the 'island' hill with the church was amazing, because we... After a tricky drive on narrow and winding roads you eventually arrive at a tropical paradise. Clear blue sea, pink sands and perfect shallow swimming opportunities make this an ideal place for children and less confident swimmers. I recommend a visit in spring or autumn when the amenities are less active but you can feel you almost have this place... More

It has pink sand (but only along the edge of the beach), what's not to like? The water is shallow, good for wading (but very very cold in May). You can walk to the park though there is nothing much in the park reserve. Do be careful as seagulls nest around, had an entertaining time watching one dive bomb a... More

We came from Chania for the day in a rented car, around two hours drjve in difficult but beautiful road. Definitively worth it. Bring water and food, even if you can gave them on site.

Go on a Monday. Stay overnight so you see the sunset and can be the only ones on the beach in the morning. This is not a resort but a wild sea sanctuary. Take towels, drinks, and whatever you can to make the day pleasant as there is little there. You want it to stay wild, truly. If you take... More

A very nice but VERY touristic beach on the southwest corner of Crete. Getting there from the north can be done in three ways: 1. Take one of the many offered private tourbuses, that takes about 2 hrs and 15 mins (includes stops at some sights on the way) from Chania 2. take the public bus during high season (goes... More

Let's cut to the chase. This is largely unspoilt natural beauty. And it is beautiful. Very beautiful. Particularly all the contrasting colours of turquoise sea, pink sand and black rocks. It is a piece of paradise. There are no real amenities. That's the point. Just this gorgeous stretch of coastland. Enjoy it for what it is. Those of you who... More

beautiful beach, most of the toilets were closed off leaving 2 that I could see available. People queuing for them. Only one beach bar which was a bit overpriced.
