No problem taking a child there.W e stayed in the neighboring town of Puerto Angel; all the beach towns like Zipolite, Mazunte, San Agustinillo have a kind of plastic homogenous feel (you could be anywhere, from Hawaii... Zipolite contrasts with our hotel Bahia de la Luna. Busier - catering for surfers and apparently nudists too! Quite the contrast. Was well served at Place on the Beach where no-one does anything

Drove the hour and a half from Puerto Escondido and found this little slice of paradise. Just what you need to relax, a handful of beach bars and restaurants, long beach and water you can swim in. Not sure if it's like that all year though. A few shops scattered around the place too. If we went again would look... More

Great place to be yourself, free and relax. Surfers, yoga retreats and hammock to sleep in at the various accommodations. Total hippie vibe. Great local food and lots of places to choose from on this long stretch of beach. I've been a few times and always look forward to returning. It's about 1.5 hrs from huatulco.

Zipolite has a wonderful community of eclectic Foreigners and Mexican Nationals. It's famous for the the clothing optional beach, but well known for it's relaxed, friendly environment. Getting to Zipolite from Oaxaca City is definitely an experience over the mountain switchbacks. Would recommend getting there from Puerto Escondido for the sake of scenery and sanity.

We stopped here for a Zipolita fruit drink and a tour of an organic cosmetic factory. It's a quaint little place and at the beach side Zipotila bar we bumped into some old hippy chick who's been there since Gerry Garcia started the Grateful Dead. There were a few nudies on the beach but I guess that's what this beach... More

Being from a younger generation and not part of the Hippie culture or acquainted with the past of this little town, I did not have too much expectations when I first visited Zipolite a year ago. The town, however, has a certain vibe, coolness or magic that makes you want to go back, so I did! This is a very... More

We visited Zipolite for the day and enjoyed it immensely. There are nice little stores in town and the beach is excellent with lots of nice restaurants. Unfortunately, there were a few older people that still remembered the days when Zipolite was famous for the nudists... Certainly worth spending the day though if you are in the area.

Beach located near Puerto Angel, a little far, at 1 hour driving from Huatulco. Although the beach is nice, I wouldn’t recommend to make the trip. There are a few rustic shops, but not so good. There aren´t nice shops or restaurants. I noticed this is a nice beach for surfers, seems that the waves are perfect for surfing. There... More

Came here a few times in the eighties. It is a little more developed but still has the same feel. The undertow is still incredibly dangerous. There are still naked people, most seem to be the same ones I saw thirty years ago. Most locals are still very nice, most travelers still "to cool for the pool". I still like... More
