There is a reward waiting if you can make it to it past the first lake. From the first lake it is about 30 min hike and about 15 min with some steep grade but not too bad. So serene and peaceful. You will barely see a few people while hiking. A very good romantic getaway for couples. It is... More

Just after Castle Junction off the Transcanadian Highway you will hit the smallish car park. Most of the people there wil only be heading for the Silverton Falls nearby and therefore if you do not arrive early in the day you might not find a parking slot so easily. The first stretch of the trail through the woods is going... More

We did this trail after a recommendation from one of the staff members at the Banff information centre. I think her name was Carla(?) and to her goes my big thank you! What a lovely hike and stunning views at the top. Rockbound lake is surrounded by Castle mountain and can be reached after a 8.4 km hike (one way)... More

Important tip. If you make an early start and get to the region before 9am, use the washrooms at nearby Johnsons Canyon - they are the best mountainside washrooms in the area and there are no washrooms at the Base of the Rockbound Lake walk. The walk itself is an 8.4km long trail with a 760m elevation. The prize is... More

We were planning to do the Ink Pots Hike but it was suggested we do Rockbound Lake and boy were we pleased we did. We started about 8am and we only saw 3 other people on the way up to the lake. The trail is clear, lots of different terrain but nearly all uphill. There is a smaller, very pretty,... More

Rockbound Lake lives up to its name. If you choose to hike around the lake you encounter massive house-sized boulders on the left side of the lake. The lake is a jewel surrounded by high cliffs that look impenetrable. I had heard there was a way up the cliffs and managed to find a narrow scree slope at the far... More

The location is spectacular. The trail up and down is deteriorating through Parks Canada's lack of maintenance This old road access does not allow bike access although the site is perfect for those with the skill sets. And Parks are still not even handling water management on the old road. And this is in a World Heritage Site?

Awesome hike! Trail to the lake was dry and in good condition. We hiked around the lake which was amazing, the waterfalls are beautiful close up. There were tons of small fruit fly like bugs flying around the lake, should bring a bandanna or something to keep them out of your nose and mouth. The waterfall leaving the lake is... More

Let me start by saying we never made it to Rockbound Lake. We went right at the trailhead instead of left and I'm so glad we did! Silverton Falls is heavenly. Once we did take that right hand trail we (my husband, 19 yo daughter and I) did not meet anyone else. I hope that doesn't mean that these falls... More
