We drive from Jasper to Banff and stopped off at the icefields parkway. 100% worth a stop even if only briefly, we parked opposite the main building right next to the glacier. Absolutely amazing to see really beautiful. We went late august and it was...More

We left Lake Louise on a Brewster Bus Tour along the Ice Field Parkway to the Ice Field Center to enjoy exploring the Athabasca Glacier on huge Ice Field Explorer vehicles. We had no idea how captivating this journey would be. Mile after mile on...More

This is one of the most beautiful highways in the world, I think. Get a map at a visitors' center in Banff, Lake Louise or in Jasper so you know where the sites are and what they offer (vista, washroom, food, etc.) and take your...More

An amazing stretch of road. Be sure to self-drive along this parkway and take your time stopping at all the attractions along the way. Allow two days on the parkway, one going to Jasper, and another coming back to Banff, it's definitely worth it!

I planned the drive to Jasper & back over 2 days to get the full experience of this parkway, and with overcast and wildfires smoke on both days, the vista was not as impressive, but I could imagine it far more spectacular set to blue...More

We drove the Icefield Parkway and did the Glacier Adventure at the Columbia Icefields Discovery Center. This is a must do; you ride an Ice Explorer onto the glacier, spend twenty minutes or so on the glacier, then a bus takes you to the Glacier...More

We loved this road trip. It is stunning. We left Banff early and stopped at all the main sites of interest. Bow lake, Peyto lake, canyons, waterfalls and icefields. Some of the scenery was utterly amazing. Plenty of people everywhere but no problems getting the...More

No, not to get to the Icefields visitors center or the walking/hiking paths. As for seeing the icefields themselves, I believe you have to take a bus and can't do it yourself. But I would check with the park people to... More

The Trans Canada Hwy has fences along the sides and special crossover bridges to keep the wildlife off the highway to avoid accidents with vehicles. Consequently you won't see wildlife on the Trans Canada between Banff and... More
