Think you probably need to do a bit of hiking to make the most of the lake but you still get some fairly spectacular views from the pull offs along the road - though the road is packed with such views and stop off

Did this hike 3 times as it´s one the premier hikes along the Icefields Parkway you can easily go to. It´s about a 12 km roundtrip to Helen Lake, but you should try to climb the Ridge once you've reached Helen Lake. It adds just 1 km extra and, tadah, you´re on top of the world. Such a beautiful view... More

Loved this hike and I'll go again. Lots of Marmots at the lake! It's rated easy I think but it's a good walk up. Don't expect it to be flat. Super cool!

Great day hike and worth the effort especially up to Dolomite Pass. If you make it to Helen Lake then you need to make that extra effort to head up to the pass (or branch off in another direction once you reach the ridge) and spend some time exploring. The tree roots can be a bit of a pain on... More

The alpine views are beautiful with wildflowers growing everywhere. The lake is a jewel. The trail is not real difficult for a beginner.

This hike has it all - hiking in the pines, through flowering meadows, across streams, to lovely Helen Lake! After lunch we hiked a little further up to the Dolomite Ridge. Saw lots of fluffy marmots running around, and bear paw prints on snow patches!

Pretty wildflowers. Vast vistas. Beautiful clear mountain lake. This hike wasn't too strenuous or too easy. I recommend that people go during the busy season because it's busy due to the flowers coming out and the general good weather. This is one of the better hikes in the rocky mountains.

Booked this tour through Information Centre and travelled with Brewsters. The coach was clean and driver smart. Passed through some breathtaking scenery and the driver/guide was very well informed. Was fortunate to see Grizzly Bear and two Black Bears. Icefields magnificent and ride in customised vehicle hairy (driven by a tiny young lady who looked about 12 years old) Highly... More

I did this hike with my brother. Great hike with lots of steep uphill areas. Amazing scenery to Hector Lake and the beautiful surrounding mountains. We did this hike over the May 24 weekend and there was still a lot of patches of snow along the trail and muddy parts. Once we got to the side of the mountain we... More
