From the splendor of the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Destination Africa, The Calgary Zoo takes you to see almost 900 animals from around the world. Trek through the gorilla’s rainforest, safari over the Savannah to watch the hippos swim, or climb the Canadian Wilds to see a grizzly bear. Cool off and get beak to nose with 4 species of penguins in our popular Penguin Plunge or visit endangered red pandas and amur tigers in Eurasia! Wind down your trip with a walk through our fragrant Dorothy Harvie Gardens or sit with the butterflies in ENMAX Conservatory. You'll love knowing that every visit helps protect endangered animals at home and in the wild.

NEW in 2017 is the unique and immersive permanent Land of Lemurs exhibit. Coming in 2018 are the iconic giant pandas!

Lots of walking since the zoo is pretty large. Many animal exhibits. Love the pandas. There is also an area of the zoo devoted to dinosaurs. Many dinosaurs were unearthed in North America in Alberta such as a triceratops in Calgary. The skull is on display in Paris with a sign saying it came from Calgary. Kids should like this... More

We do zoo lights every year. But this year all the staff at the outside fires were so friendly! We had many good conversations with them! We also loved all the lights and the indoor portion. Very done and amazing staff!

This was such a fun day. As much as I wasn't looking forward to walking around seeing animals in pens, I have to admit this was a well maintained zoo. The education we got from the volunteers at the penguin display was great. I loved seeing the giraffes. Great to see the variety and community support.

The first time I visited the zoo when my own were small seems like ages.. nowadays I'm visiting to zoo to see some of the animals more in the news today.. the recent tragic accident with the penguins where a few of them died actually got me to write this review. The zoo has always been a place to spend... More

It had been years since I went to the Calgary zoo but I'm so glad I did! Calgary is lucky to have such a cool attraction. All the animals seemed well cared for and the zookeepers all seemed happy to work there.

Compares with SanDiego Zoo in my opinion. Modern and clean. Kept up to date with unique exhibits. Butterfly pavilion can be amazing. Newish penguin exhibit is fun. Zoo lights event is fun for the young family at Christmas.

Since we had heard good things about the zoo we went. In our opinion not worth the time. We have been to several highly rated zoos so have a basis for comparison.

Really nice Zoo with a nice variety of animals. I especially loved the Canadian wildlife section (although it was so freezing when we went that a lot of animals were hiding or inside). Still had a winter wonderland feel happening with Christmas lights etc. I would love to go again in Summer and see how different it is then. Highly... More

Insane prices, expect to pay a fortune. Honestly, I wouldn't go unless you a.) Had very small children or b.) had a coupon. Zoo lights are great date nights, but the lions festival of lights in Calgary is free and nearly as good.
