Although Stanley Park does connect with the Elbow River Pathway system, and it is close to close to the interesting historical places like Princess Obolensky Park and Lindsay's Foley, only the picnic tables and playground equipment seem to get much use. Currently, construction is in full swing to upgrade the softball field for the Calgary Rocky Mountain Softball Association. In... More

This not the best-known of Calgary's beautiful parks, but it's well worth a visit. For the active crowd, it has lawn bowling greens, tennis courts, and an outdoor pool (summer only, of course). But for the rest of us, there are lovely open greens, and one of the nicest picnic areas along the Elbow River. The waters here are not... More

really nice park not to be confused with the much larger stanley park in vancouver - this one is much smaller but a great place to wander and have a picnic. The bike trail goes along the water front edge of the bow river

I love Stanley park! Can start at Sandy Beach. Walk along the path for 15-20 minutes. To your left is the Elbow River. Then, Stanley Park. Wide open space. Swimming pool. Picnic area. Sit by the river. Or, keep walking and go into other neighborhoods. Maybe even downtown. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Swimming, biking, tennis, baseball, pic-nic area with grills, childrens playground, fields large enough for soccer, summer car shows and a great winter rink outdoors. Amazingly inner city accessible. Superb...

Great place for a family picnic. There is a city pool here if you want to go for a swim. Bike path goes along the river and connects to the Bow River Pathway system.

Take a stroll around Stanley Park on the weekend and enjoy buskers and fares galore. If you have time, the River Cafe is a perfect place to relax and have coffee or brunch

This park has nice trails next to the elbow river. Its a nice place to go with your kids or have a picnic with friends and family. Its also a great starting point if you're interested in spending the day on the river in a raft.
