This is Edmonton's regional theatre company housed in a beautiful buiding that allows the sun to stream in on a sunny day. If you're waiting to see a show there's lots to do just walking around the building where you can find yourself sitting in a tropical paradise surrounded by greenery, take in the wall honouring Edmonton's past and present... Went to the final performance which was excellent. They did an amazing job. We were in the Maclab Theatre which is apparently their largest venue but it feels very intimate. The seats are terrible though, very narrow and uncomfortable. The Citadel is quite a nice venue overall, especially the atrium. Drinks were on the expensive side, obviously, and pretty basic... Love coming to the Citadel, it is always an enjoyable event. Had season tickets to the cabaret series this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Small intimate venue with a great variety of local and international acts. The variety was great and it felt like being in a small intimate club. The Citadels downtown location is also great for catching a... More

The Citadel Theatre is a pleasant place to visit even if you're not seeing a play. The McLab stage lobby has a lovely garden with benches, and a waterfall, although they don't run it all the time. The plays they show are extremely well done and professional. I've seen such plays as West Side Story and Venus in Furs, and... More

Just went to see "West Side Story". Thoroughly enjoyed the performance!! Had seen the movie many, many times but never had I seen it live. Musical numbers and dance scenes were very well done. I particularly enjoyed the way they used the set - very creative. A very enjoyable evening!!

My wife and I saw "Other Desert Cities" at the Citadel last week. I had never been in the theatre before, though I have seen the outside many times. The Shoctor theatre is lovely, with wood panelling, comfortable seats and a great stage. It's large but still retains warmth, a sense of intimacy and has great acoustics. The upstairs lobby is... Went to see A Christmas Carol (which was wonderful) but the seats were so uncomfortable it was distracting. The box office was very far from the actual theatre itself, and there were crazy line ups for the washrooms. Also, coffee was bad. BUT... most importantly is that the theatre and acoustics were wonderful. Support them and see a show.

Went to see Chelsea Hotel production was excellent but experience was ruined by their snug low back breaking seats. Guess there okay with their 90 lb when wet geriatric clientele. The low brow movie houses have comfortable seats why cant they.

I've seen a concert and recently, A Christmas Carol, in the Maclab Theatre at The Citadel. We picked up our tickets the night of the show and arrived shortly before 7 and there was no line up at the Box office and we quickly got our tickets. The show started at 7:30 and there are 2 sets of doors that... More

Very well done as always. Really gets you into the spirit of Christmas. The cast, the props, talent: creates a fantastic show that draws you in and you can feel what the actors feel. Should be a tradition for all.

Thank Loretta L
