The Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC) is an exciting interpretive museum located on the lower level of Centre 2000. The vast history of the Peace Region is portrayed from the Mesozoic Era, the last Ice Age, Aboriginal and Metis settlement, the arrival of the pioneers and subsequent development of local resources.

Visitors can stroll through the galleries at their own pace and learn about our history through interactive displays and survivor games.

HDC is open 7 days a week, year-round and admission is always FREE!

My friend and I walked around and around the museum back and forth in front of the desk. The entire hour we were there no one spoke to us or said hello, even after we said hello to them. I felt sad about that because it is such a beautiful place and they have such an honour to be representing... More

Well thought out museum allows visitors to travel through millions of years to shed light on the various epochs that have passed and their impact upon the planet...from single-celled animals to dinosaurs and beyond. Definitely not as large as Drumheller's Royal Tyrell museum but definitely first class and a "must see" when in Grand Prairie!

Cool place where the whole family can have fun. Great to walk into all the old buildings. We saw an old crib which our family still has and an old dresser with a mirror that my mom has from her mom. It was a lot of fun. Even an exhibit about dinosaurs!

Great place to visit as a family with young children. The dinosaur area is very entertaining. The museum does a great job of making learning fun with their interactive time line.

The Heritage Discovery Centre is downstairs in Centre 2000. I liked the animatronic dinosaur, Piper, and the teepee, which you can actually go into! It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. It is set up in a time line format starting with the dinosaurs and the ice age, then working it's way up to the pioneers and... More

I learned quite a bit about the area I grew up in and did not know there was so much that I did not know! It was informative, interesting, and I very much enjoyed the animals, dinosaur, and all of the things you can touch and try! Great Museum.
