Take the Opal hills trail, cut to the left and find yourself in a world of flowers and beauty. This hike has everything...hills, forests, wildflowers, bears and if you have it in you, find your way up a teeny path to the call of Opal...More

We did this hike in less than 3 hours including a half hour stop on the top of the mountain. The loop was closed due to bear activity so we took the right trail. The trail is quiet and steep but the views at the...More

This is not really suitable for folks who don't exercise at all as even for people with moderate fitness level, the hike can take 4 hrs to complete and there are paths which can be quite tricky. Also, good to bring along bear spray just...More

Opal Hills was an interesting hike for my friend and I. We went in May when there was fresh snow on the mountain. We went left instead of going right like most other people seem to have. I'm not sure if we missed another fork,...More

Completed this walk in 3.15 hrs. I'm reasonably fit and the walk is steep but definitely manageable for anyone with moderate fitness. It is steep, so don't expect it not to be strenuous. If you'd rather less exertion the walk around the lake at the...More

It is a step ascent but lovely going through the trees to emerge in a wide meadow. Great views all round and we saw two Moose.

This was my first hiking experience and yes, it was brutal due to the incline, but rewarding once you reach the meadow area and some good views. We took the right path on the way up which is the more steep part. Not much viewing...More

We hiked the Opal Hills, which is rated as one of the top 10 hikes in the Rockies. It was a strenuous uphill hike through a forest with absolutely no views of anything but dense forest trees. The lookoffs indicated in the Jasper and Maligne...More

Great hike to get away from the crowds, we only saw maybe 3 other groups the entire hike. When you get to a fork in the trail, I recommend going to the right first. Hike to the lookout at the top for a amazing view...More
