Approx 1 hour drive from Williams Lake (40 mins to Riske Creek and 20 mins on unpaved road towards Gang Ranch) and 30-45 mins hike one way but it is all worth the drive and the hike. Autumn leaves colour and the greenish river adds the excitement. A must if you visit Williams Lake.

Very beautiful view, but better coming in fall season. Want to come back again someday. Want to back again with biking over there.

Farrell Canyon is definitely worth the side trip to see. From the junction of Hwy 07 & 20 in Williams Lake, head west on Hwy 20 for 46 km. Turn left ( following the signs) on a good gravel road. I was able to comfortably go 70 km / h in my car. At 15 km there is a viewpoint... More

Farwell Canyon is stunningly beautiful. Even the drive to the canyon is well worth it. It is definitely worth traveling off of Hwy 20 to visit this place. The views are very impressive. The road is drivable using a car, no 4x4 vehicle is necessary. Be careful though the road has logging trucks and other commercial traffic on it. Well... More

It is worth the extra 2-3 hours spent detouring off Highway 20 past several lakes and creeks, in to the canyon. The roads are gravel, but in good shape for a strudy SUV.

The trip from Quesnel was over a 2 hour drive but worth while. We parked at the 16 Km marker and used the well beaten path for a one hour casual hike through three ravines, to the sand dune. Nice views and mix of landscapes.

We visited this canyon on our drive from Williams Lake to Bella Coola after reading about it online. It is down a turning after the village of Riske Creek. The road itself is only about 14km down to the canyon, however it is a gravel road so you have to drive slowly to avoid damaging your car and avoiding cows... More

Farwell Canyon is hard to describe in words. Depending on the time of year, the time of day and how mobile you are - there is something for everyone that visit's. A natural amphitheatre of hoodoos where you can often view Big Horn Sheep. This setting is topped by a giant sand dune. Near by are ancient Pictographs. Various rafting... More

The Farwell Canyon area really is a must-see when you're visiting Williams Lake. It's off the beaten track and not very well identified, but if you plan on most of day the variety of scenery is remarkable, from the hoodoos and long-abandoned ranch in the canyon, to a massive sand dune system above the canyon and an important California bighorn...
