Having the opportunity, to share with you, one of my personal favorite places; is cool. Whether it is sea glass hunting, or sunset watching, Piper's lagoon is one of Nanaimo's hidden treasures for sure. You have to travel along a windy and well used road to get to the neighborhood. There are no stores. It is a regional park, surrounded... More

A wonderful to take your dog for a walk. The views are spectacular and the lagoon is a unique feature. If the tide is in you have to climb a few rocks to access some of it. I was there in the early part of the year, not sure what month but there were quite a few people there because... More

This is a lovely short hike. You can do the first part easily; it's flat and has access to a pebble beach. To get out into the rocky headlands, which are covered in Garry Oak, big firs and other tree species, you'll need to either scramble up and over, or, tide-dependent, go around one of them ( low tide only).... This is a great place to unwind from Nanaimo's hustle and bustle, especially after a one traffic light 5 minutes commute ;) But seriously, Piper's and Neck Point are wonderful parks especially if you want to enjoy the seashore. Great wildlife watching (seabirds, seals, tidepool fish). Really great outdoor activity for children.

Loved the park, we were so lucky to be staying nearby. We walked along the gravel beach from on top the hill coming in through the trees. Breathtaking view as the forest opened onto the beach. We saw across to the mainland. Walking by the lagoon on one side with the open waters crashing against the rocky shores was breath-taking.... More

Just a quick jaunt from our holiday rental place. We went to the lagoon and had a wonderful two hour walk in the park. The waves crashed on the shoreline and the birds and animals were abundant. I saw a seal and couple eagles. Just had a wonderful break from the hectic world we live in to be a part... More

This place is nature in the raw. At low tide the hectare sized lagoon is empty and all mud. But not all low tides will empty the lagoon. The beach outside the lagoon has good views of the coast mountains, and lots of rocks for kids to throw. A 200 meter walk to the rocky entrance to the lagoon with... More

The park consists of a parking area, the causeway and the rocky outcrop (a small Island before the causeway existed). We have spent many Sunday afternoons walking and climbing the rocks and admiring the sea creatures on the shores of this rugged little bit of nature. A beautiful example of "West Coast Nature."

This is one of the most beautiful and fun beaches on Vancouver Island. It also has an amazing view of the mainland and Mt Baker in a clear day. You can font inter beach and/or take a hike around the north end of the beach and see Shack Island!

Good pathways for a stroll along the water. Viiewt but not in the city, Watch wildlife and ferries arrive and depart from the mainland. Parking on site and a few picnic tables to use for lunch. Natural setting along the water with benches for resting or just watching. Large beech frontage with drift wood and lots of rocks for the... More
