Description:

Located on the ground floor of the Atlin Terminal in the historic Cow Bay...

Located on the ground floor of the Atlin Terminal in the historic Cow Bay district of Prince Rupert, the Port Interpretive Centre tells the story of the Port of Prince Rupert. It is a story that stretches from 10,000 years ago -- when the area served as a vital trading hub for the Ts’msyen First Nation -- to the present, with the rapid growth of the port's commerce in containers, coal, and grain. A highlight for visitors of all ages is the Interactive Trade Route Simulator, a sensory feature that allows visitors to select a commodity and ‘launch’ a ship to visualize the supply chain of imports and exports flowing through the Port of Prince Rupert.

We started our visit later in the day, but managed to watch two of the videos on the port, its activities, and what the Port Authority had been up to in terms of supporting a nearby community. Wish we'd had more time, and there is much we didn't see.

This place is very informative and gives you a lot on information about the surroundings like the granary and grain loading, CN rail and container terminal. Also they guide you on the places you can visit.

Had a little time to kill while waiting for others to arrive & happlily popped in to the centre. It is interactive & engaging with much interesting information & friendly staff. While not a "must do" activity it is certainly worth considering as somewhere to spend a little time to learn about the port & its history.

Dropped in to this place not sure what to expect. The young staff were all very helpful and it was a pleasure to look around all the information boards.

This small interpretative center, designed by the Port of Prince Rupert is located in the Atlin Terminal in Cow Bay in Prince Rupert. It's interactive approach makes it appropriate for both kids and adults. The information about the container industry at the Port of Prince Rupert is both interesting and informative. Definitely a must see while in Prince Rupert. No... More

They had nice exhibits here, especially to do with Prince Rupert harbour, but they did not give us great advise on where to go, especially when it came to hiking.

I am not a big fan of museums and the like. But the interpretive centre, and particulary the interactive display of products and shipping, was very engaging.
