This little boutique was recommended to me on a flight home from Palm Springs last fall and I am so glad I remembered the name! I got 2 beautiful suits that are both comfortable and nice looking (for a 53 year old body). Eleanor, the young sales girl was fabulous! Really helpful without being pushy or fake. I loved that!... The good: This shop has a large inventory of swimsuits. It gives you the impression that you're sure to find something here, if you have the time to look. The bad: Where do I start? First, the service is sorely lacking. I was greeted by a plump young clerk and quickly shown where to find sizes of bikinis. She put... More

The store is small but has lots of swimming suit styles for all figures. I kept looking into other stores like Swimco or Aqua, but never found such a great selection and in the meantime, good quality. Prices are fair, but those suits will last at least a couple of years unless your weight will change.

I found this shop online- looking for larger sized bathing suits, and noticed all the great reviews. I took a friend with me as support and objective criticizer (bathing suit trying-on can make one pretty vulnerable). One of the owners was there - Brad Gilchrist, he had a very cheerful disposition and seemed to be a clear communicator. I was... More

Visit the Kitsilano area of Vancouver, and drop into Splash swimwear on West 4th, at Bayswater. This shop is owned by a family (Fisher/Gilchrist) that is a major part of Canada's Olympic swimming dynasty. You will find the best in swimwear - and not just dorky competitive wear, but the latest Ed Hardy (gorgeous and pricey), Miraclesuits in flattering styles,... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
