A great place to while away a few hours. We took the long route and walked to the island (past the Olympic village and science park) and then took the aquabus back to the centre when we left. Lots of food stalls for lunch, also...More

On granville islamd, this is a very nice market with all kinds of stuff. Next to it, there is a nice outside terrace to have your food or drinks, with views of the west end of downtown Vancouver.

As with many markets they are crowed. it just means there are many others also enjoying the market and there is something for everyone. The market features eateries, baked and pastry goods, seafood, meats, pasta, art, wines and the list goes on. You will find...More

This place is amazing, we visited the one in Barcelona, but found it to be overcrowded to the max, this place was more spacious and you could get a seat! We had a lovely soup and the prices for produce were reasonable. If I lived...More

So this market has lots of small shops and some places to eat but it is nothing special and not worth going to. It is out of the way requiring either a walk over the bridge or a boat ride (wouldnt choose the walking option...More

A must-see while in Vancouver. Easy to walk down to False Creek from the city and take one of the cute ferries across to the market - two companies to choose from but similar prices and both well run - drop you off a different...More

This market reminds me of Pike Place Market in Seattle and I think it actually might be a bit bigger-it is a giant square whereas PP is long with multiple floors. Fresh produce including incredible fruits and vegetables. Each vendor stacks the cherries over 4...More

The wonderful folks at the Surrey Visitor Centre advised us to go to Granville Island Public Market for lunch. Great tip! We drove around it a bit then found good parking for cheap. Wandering around the market was sensory overload! This is what Pike's Place...More

One of the favoured neighbourhoods for a day out,
Granville Island's packed theatres and art studios,
hobby shops and book stores, restaurants and bars, all
offer a plethora of activities and entertainment
options, leaving no one bored. The highlight of the
area is the Fisherman's Wharf, where the seagulls
overhead and the smell of the sea invigorate its many

Sorry do not know of an exact place for gluten free. There are numerous dining places on the island as well as food shops in the Public Markets. You would have to check with those places if they have gluten free food... More
Are there vendors at the Public Market that sell prepared foods such as sandwiches, suitable for a picnic lunch or dinner? We are visiting the market in June in the morning, and attending Bard on the Beach in the evening and would like to take a picnic with us. Thank you for your input.

I am sorry I just noticed your question. There are foods you can buy and and eat near by or buy to go. especially if you are the adventurous kind then you will enjoy trying different dishes. Have a great time!
We will be renting a vehicle at YVR then driving up to Whistler. I'd love to stop at the Public Market on our way but I'm wondering if we will have problems parking. Any thoughts/recommendations?
