We walked only the part of the trail to Mystic Beach, not the whole Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. But this piece was very nice. Great path through the forest including a suspension bridge. We didn't find the beach sooo outstandingly beautiful, but that may...More

My wife and I hiked the full trail from China beach to Port Renfrew and had a great time. This is not an easy hike unless you're an experienced hiker. Be prepared for wet weather and lots of up and down hiking. Beautiful scenery.

It was nice to get out of Victoria and enjoy the outside for a day of our vacation. It did take awhile to arrive at an entry point to Juan de Fuca trail, not as scenic a drive as expected, can't see the water most...More

The trail was dank and had lots of neat stuff. I hiked with a group from imadene wildside for 5 days from China beach to sombrio beach and the weather was perfect ranging from 12 degrees centigrade to like 20 during the day, with mist...More

I did a day hike from Botanical Beach to Sombrio Beach, which was about 20 km (12.5 miles). Beforehand I assumed that the sections along the beach would be easy because they'd be flat, but I was wrong. One section of beach was made up...More

Right next to China Beach, There's a 2 kms easy to moderate hike through a rainforest that will take you to an amazing beach with sandstone cliffs, caves to explore, a swinging rope into the ocean, a hanging swing, and many little surprises, a beautiful...More

If you are looking for a lovely hike with a destination that has a great view, take the one hour hike from the trailhead of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail toward Mystic Beach (most people go to China Beach). It is a very simple...More

Just hiked this trail. The trail is seriously degraded. There has been no upgrades in 20 years. At some parts the trail is poorly marked. There is a considerable amount of deep mud and the trail is steep, slippery and difficult to navigate. A challenging...More

I hiked the entire trail as my first multi day hike. Started at the north end (botanical beach) and ended in mystic beach. It was awesome. Ne careful with the tide. Some campgrounds are only accessible at low tide. Bring a rain jacket and warm...More

Not as difficult as people are saying! Hiked this in 2 and a half days but we were fairly rushing, I'd rank this in difficulty as 4/10 but It all depends on what you're used to (I'm used to doing mountains/harder trails). Extremely muddy (in...More

Just to add to that, Barkley Sound, a few hours north, is a kayaker's paradise, and is worth a week-long trip on its own.

We just spent a few hours near the trailhead. We parked at the China Beach Day Use lot and walked down to Mystic Beach (2km), which was beauitful. We then continued along the JDF trail (west) for a short time. From Mystic... More
