I was unsure about bringing my 6 year-old grandson to the museum, but he had a marvelous time. He really enjoyed the mammoth, the totem poles and the first peoples languages that were available to listen to. He seemed to pick up on them right away and had a blast. I love this place so much I always purchase a yearly membership. They always have different exhibits happening along with their stable first nations exhibit. It is a great place to spend a few hours:

We had a volunteer tour guide who gave us a highlight tour of the museum. It was the time of year with not too many other tourists. Also enjoyed the IMAX theatre twice
