A magical drive

The winter winds blow with gusto...the ice forms along the shore. The waves appear to be frozen in mid air...a most lovely, magical site.

Drove along with road in a van send encountered a curious Polar Bear cub. We saw him in the distance exploring near the shore, then all of a sudden he came walking over to us. He came right up to the van - he was very cute. Unfortunately we were told by our guide that the little guy was abandoned... More

We traveled on Bay Shore Road in a shuttle touring Churchill before we left. Beautiful rocky landscape and tundra. It allows you to see how massive the bay is and you also spot a wrecked airplane, Miss Piggy along with a squatter's camp. It's a very interesting area that loops around the coast and back to town. Very scenic!

We took a brief drive around looking for anything more after an amazing trip. We saw a red fox who seemed to be hunting. It was breezy so we didn't walk around much. Right behind the Town Center we had pictures taken and later stopped to see the Northern Lights. We also flew over the road in a helicopter which... More

The road that goes behind the town of Churchill and fronts the Hudson Bay should be part of a northern experience. It has a restored ship and an Inukshuk along your way. The rocks are impressive and a seashore wave sound and feel are unbeatable, the walk a good feeling in so many ways.

It's beautiful, this walk. There are polar bear warning signs there for a reason. Apparently the polar bears live in the hollows between the flat rocks near shore. I didn't see any, thank goodness, as I didn't have a vehicle with me, but from the benches near the community centre you can sit and watch the beluga whales in the... More

If you want to see polar bears in summer THIS IS THE PLACE!!! In just two hours we saw three of them!! One from quite far away, another from reasonably close and another from VERY up close and personal!! Less than 50 yards from us, more like 100 feet or less. The situation with that one was quite interesting. When... More

Nice area to come to and have your photo taken near the "bear sign" or stone inuck, shipwreck. When we went the snow blizzard came down, which was nice to see. Didnt see any bears here. But they just appear around Churchill at any time.
