The Winnipeg Art Gallery, Canada's oldest civic art gallery, celebrates its 100th anniversary from Sept 2012 to Aug 2013. As one of Canada's leading art museums, the WAG has over 25,000 works of art ranging from 15th century European paintings to 21st century American multi-media art, and has toured exhibitions around the world-Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Taiwan, Norway, China, Italy, and the United States. At the forefront in promoting Manitoba artists nationwide and abroad, the WAG also represents artists from countries and cultures from across the globe.

This Gallery is more than 105 years old!! It is centrally located-- near the U of Winnipeg and the Parliament Building. Its collection is very large, diverse and interesting!! It is a "definite must see" if you are interested in culture and the aRTS!!

We attended the Picasso in Canada Exhibit. The WAG staff were welcoming, friendly and informative. There is stairs up to the Exhibit but the entire gallery is wheelchair accessible. The Exhibit was a wonderful experience. There is areas to sit and ponder the creations The...More

Saw two presentations of Picasso's work, mostly etchings. It was nicely curated, and sorted in an inspirational setting. Nice permanent collection, too, especially Inuit Art.

Not really. Although the gallery has a large collection, only a small percentage is available for viewing. If you want to see native art and artefacts try elsewhere - Like The Museum across town
