I didn't even know how big places of worship were in St Johns. There are a few historic places of worship, some even on the same street as this one, but this one stood out the most to me. There were many people in attendance, when I first went there, inside was a little crowded, so I didn't bother to... More

Beautifully ornate place of worship. Full of history & a draw to both historians and devout Catholics alike. Pews are relatively comfortable. Statues are strategically placed, albeit some of them are a little worse for wear. The acoustics are poor though, so it's essential to find the right place to sit if you have any hearing impairment.

To find such an amazing structure towering above the city of St. Jon's was totally unexpected. Wander through and plan on an hour to relax, and meditate.

Loved St. John, Newfoundland! On a self walking tour, we first stopped at the Anglican Cathedral (read review). When we continued up the very steep road toward this Cathedral, we met a local woman and her daughter from the U.S. We had a nice chat and learned more about the neighborhood. The most interesting thing we learned from her was... More

We were very pleasantly surprized and impressed by the Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Not being Roman Catholic, we still enjoy seeing great cathedrals and chapels and this one was a great surprize. It is large and very beautiful both inside and out.

This church I have seen many times because I'm a local. It it's always so amazing to see. It's so gorgeous with so much history. One of the oldest churches in North America.

The Basilica is absolutely stunning and presenting its history in play format is genius. The actor was very accomplished and held the attention of everyone present.

Having some difficulty finding the words to describe something so beautiful and impressive both inside and out. Suffice to say that this church would be impressive to even non-church goers. Marvellous stained glass throughout toigether with displays and statues enhance the overall beauty. Definitely worth seeing.
