Unfortunately, it was September and not everything was in bloom and it was a bit chilly. This is a must see while in Wolfville!

Thank you for your review, pickybit. Yes; when visiting our native botanical garden, you will not find a 'showy' display of flowering plants as with a traditional botanical garden. You may only find a few species in bloom at a time during the growing season. In September, the plants begin to prepare for the cold winter months, so the beauty... More

Picturesque building and gardens. Looks like an old building but believe it's actually relatively modern. Well worth a look.

Thank you for your review, mskitty27. Yes; the building was opened in 2002 and intended to assimilate with the older campus architecture. It is certainly a pleasure to offer these beautiful facilities to the public year-round. I hope that your visit was enjoyable and that you stop by for another visit when you're in the neighbourhood. This building was built in 1999. While it is relatively new, it has the feel, craftsmanship and materials of a grand old building from the the turn of the the 20th century. Oak wainscoting, slate stairs, real cast iron, bronze and decorated throughout with botanical drawings. The greenhouses and gardens are equally impressive. Acres of gardens representing various native ecological... More

Well worth a visit to this gorgeous building and gardens. All free with a relaxing garden room with leather sofas, magazines etc to have a quiet time in this haven. There is a wee stall for coffees and toilets.

The building is superb, and the greenhouse is extraordinary. I'll spend hours contemplating the care and professional movements of everyone that is working with the specimens. The garden asks you to stay hours wandering around.

I had heard how nice the Harriet Irving Gardens were so took the time to visit last week. The building itself, where classes are held is beautiful, with gorgeous woodwork throughout, winding staircases and beautiful windows to let in lots of natural light. The gardens are delightful, peaceful and a wonderful place to walk, take photographs or find a quiet... More

A wide variety of plants (outside in the garden) and several experiments with plants (inside the green houses that we can visit) make this free of charge activity an interesting thing to do, even on a rainy day. There is a welcoming café with a beautiful grand hall filled with comfortable chairs inviting the readers for a relaxing time. Serenity... More

My four year old loved running around this place. It is beautifully laid out and kept. Posted signs teach you about different ecosystems and he loved hearing (and pretending to look for) the different fauna that you might find in each. A definite recommend!
