Skyline Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park

An good walk, and fantastic scenery. Be prepared to climd several flights of stairs coming up from the lookout point. Not wheelchair accessible.

I arrive at 7:30 Sunday of the May 2017 long weekend, and it was snowing heavily. I did not come dressed for this, but made the walk. Scenery was amazing, unfortunately didn't see any wildlife. This is a trail I will walk again, hopefully under better conditions.

The skyline trail is a must include in your Cape Breton adventure. Although the initial part of the hike is more like a walk through the woods we were told many encounter moose along the way. We however were not so fortunate. Despite the beginning of the hike, keep going because the final destination is a feast for the eyes... More

Just visited briefly this past October - Now, whenever I am in Cape Breton I stop by to say a quick prayer for Taylor. The Trail is very manageable for hiking and, if you take proper precautions and travel in groups you should be safe as regards wildlife. Just remember, you are visiting THEIR home terrain. If you want an... More

We did this trail twice as it poured rain the first day. It is an easy hike. We did a loop taking the shorter way there and on way back we saw a moose and 2 babies which was thrilling. The view of the ocean cannot be beat. But be careful as in high winds can be dangerous. We also... More

My boyfriend and I chose to do this hike at sunset-it did not take too long to get to the amazing views (approx 30 mins)! The trails are very well indicated and it is a relatively easy hike--families of all ages were hiking with us. Bring a camera and a small flashlight for the return trip. We did not plan... More

This is a circular trail that leads to phenomenal views of the ocean. On the main trail it takes about 20 - 30 minutes to get to the main viewing areas and the hike is quite easy, so it would be doable for families with kids, elderly members. If you do have members of your party that are quite young... More

We did this hike towards the evening, so got some great sunset light on the way back and at the lookout. It is true that the most dramatic and spectacular view is at the end, overlooking the ocean, but the hike is through some great forested areas with chances to see wildlife. I really enjoyed being in the forest. We... More
