I'm a little biased having been stationed here 33 years ago. For me it generated a lot of fond memories, and it certainly supplies an enormous amount of history and information for everyone. Everywhere you look there are crests, large and small airplanes, written information...More

The museum located by the Shearwater Airforce Base contains a variety of planes and helicopters from World War II to the 1960s brought to life by Jim, an ex-serviceman, and now excellent volunteer guide.

Shearwater Museum is a wonderful place to visit. Lots of history, well displayed. Walking shoes and camera's recommended. Worth the 11/2 hours visit. A must see. I try and visit every year

Stopped by here after having lunch at the wharf (Boondocks was really good). Great free museum of aviation. Lots of actual planes in the hangers as well as some good art upstairs. They rely on donations, so be generous as they need to expand.

Started with a great welcome/introduction by the greeter, explaining the history of the museum. Great variety of aircraft showing the history of the nearby airbase. Very interesting, and very well done. Would defiantly come back!

We had a great walk around learning about the history and all the different artifacts and the different planes really gives you a good perception of how large they are

Lots of parking, handy venue. If you are a flying enthusiast you will definitely enjoy the aircraft stationed here at the museum. A favorite spot for all especially the kids. Hopefully one day the air show will come back.
