The Black Cultural centre is not a large museum, but it is rich with history. There is lots to read and many pictures. I highly recommend this museum.

I guess it's an opportunity missed... I grew up in Nova Scotia and my children grow up here. We do as much as we can... but whenever we stop here, it is not open.

Race and slavery are very sensitive topics for public discourse. However the Black Cultural Center made the topics accessible, facilitated pleasant discussion among attendees, and engendered ethnic and national pride. I spent an afternoon there and could have stayed longer to absorb all the exhibits and artifacts. The gift shop offered some unique items that will extend my learning experience. Kudos... More

The artifacts in the centre and the different posters take you back to a darker time. But it's a time we all need to understand so that we know where we want to go in our future. The staff took the time to speak to a youth group I was travelling with and gave time for the youth to explore... More

I visited the center as part of a family reunion event. Very informative, all questions asked were immediately answered. Received a very warm reception from the employees and the layout of the center was open and inviting. If you haven't been there, make this a stop when in Halifax, you will love it!

I have a keen interest in the black history of Nova Scotia and how Black Loyalist slaves helped to build communities in this area and chose to make this their home. Well worth finding, lots of information backing up already gained knowledge, interesting video which gives individuals not so knowledgeable a starting point to continue to learn. The staff were... Extremely well documented story of the experiences of the Black peoples of Nova Scotia. Makes us reassess our level of tolerance in this province and appreciate the contribution that the Black Nova Scotians have made to our history, culture, and legacy.

I had planned on this visit for some time and want to return. We were welcomed and invited to take the self guided tour. The displays and the interpretive signs were very informative. There was a lot to read, and many valuable photos to see. I would have like more places to sit down and more opportunities to interact with... More
