We wandered around by ourselves for a while and it was mildly interesting and informative. We then went on two guided tours (free) and it was amazing. The Titanic one had lots of new information and the guide loved to talk about the heroes of the story and made it come alive. But when she talked about the Halifax Explosion... More

The museum was fine but I'd like to have seen a little more detail on things like the Halifax explosion. In the end I went through but I didn't feel I had the detail that was there somewhere.

We spent our first morning in Halifax visiting the museum. We found it very interesting, especially the spaces dedicated to the Titanic and the Halifax fire. It's light and airy and everything is well-explained. There were seats here and there to have a rest. The chandler's store at street level is very authentic, and it's worth loooking at the boat-builder's... More

Spent a few hours here looking at the history of the Maritimes and found it interesting. Many model ships and Titanic history. Worth a visit.

If you are interested in marine history this is the place to be! I was born and raised in and around Halifax and I found this to have a number of interesting facts for everyone. The younger the crowd generally the less interested they would be....

Like virtually everything else in Halifax, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is steeped in a rich tapestry of history. Located along the historic Halifax Boardwalk, there is no better place to take in, absorb and appreciate Nova Scotia – and the Atlantic’s – maritime heritage. The museum is very well laid out with exhibits covering a plethora of subjects:... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Atlantic Maritime Museum. I was, on entering, most interested in The Titanic exhibit; however, I found so much more to enjoy. The history of steamships, artifacts from shipwrecks, videos of shipwreck dives, the Halifax Explosion, warship artifacts and interesting info and artifacts from the Titanic. I sat through the video of the Halifax Explosion... More

This exhibit is beyond excellent. Informative, Narrative, Well Displayed, Well Thought out. It sure isn't the movie but it is the real thing which makes it that much more special for young and old alike....not for toddlers...they must have some understanding of the tragedy that occurred and the lives lost to truly appreciate the meaning of this disaster.

Ok, so the husband's a sailor and boatbuilder. so anything maritime is on his 'must see' list and I go along as the 'plus one.' in this case, however, we both enjoyed the outing thoroughly. The museum is well set out with a variety of different galleries covering Halifax's maritime stories from the history of Cunard to its links to... More
