I found the replica of the Hector, the ship on which 33 families and 25 single men traveled from Scotland to Nova Scotia in 1773, more interesting than the museum itself.

The museum and Hector replica were interesting. There is a 3-level info centre and a life-sized replica of the Hector ship. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for kids, and a family rate of $20. Guides were friendly and seemed generally well...More

We were part of a 36 person mostly retired bus group that was divided in half for private tours. The guides were very young and truly inexperienced in directing the group, answering questions and keeping things interesting. There are certainly many interesting things to see...More

Great museum in the heart of town. But, the staff was either untrained or just didn't care to give any information about the ship, the community or the areas history. Such a waste. Just take a picture and move on.

The museum was three floors of education and information. Visiting the ship itself, made us feel and understand the hardships immigrants endured in the past. The connection to the Scottish culture helped us learn about Nova Scotia's beginnings.

Four of us spent about 90 minutes exploring the history of this interesting ship and its' voyage from Scotland to Pictou. The history was well presented in a beautiful building and the replica ship was very interesting to see.

In the Museum there is an informative narrative of the journey of the Hector, showing scenes of the long voyage to Pictou from Scotland and the terrible privations endured by the 200 passengers, who were crammed into this small, old unseaworthy vessel. There is a...More
