While we did find Dundurn Castle very interesting, in looking thru others photos of tour I'm wondering if our guide cut ours short because it was the last or second last tour of day. None of the tables were set with dishes as I see in the pics and the pigeon house was not seen or pointed out to us.... More

Thank you for your review. The pictures which you see with dishes set are taken during our Victorian Christmas special event in November and December and are not left set year around. The lights on in some pictures are also "turned on" during special events and some are on year round but if you visit on an especially bright day... More

The so called castle is rather small but there is definitely a lot to discover. Our guide was super friendly and as we were only a small group answered many questions. In the summer and without fog this place must be even more amazing. At the end of the tour a small food tasting of authentic cuisine at those times... More

Thank you for your review! Dundurn Castle earned its name "Castle" soon after it was built. Many citizens living in the area at that time quickly nicknamed the home "castle" as it was one of the bigger homes in the area. If you have the opportunity to visit us again remember to visit our 2 acre Kitchen Garden. It is... More

Thank you for your review. Dundurn provides a number of different workshop and party options for groups of 10-45 people. These programs are typically hands on and some include a cooking component where visitors make and taste the food they have made. We also have a rental space located in the 1870's Coach House. This space can hold 88 people... More

Our group had people from 8 years old to 83 years old and everyone enjoyed the visit immensely. Excellent tour guide, gorgeous house. My son loved visiting the cook in the kitchen who gave us warm shortbread, and let him pump the water pump. Our tour also included free tickets to the military museum that is very interesting & had... More

Dundurn castle isn't exactly a castle but it's still a lot of fun. The 45 minute guided tours take you through the historic home of Sir Allan McNab and you get to learn about what life was like at the turn of the century. The home is unique in the fact that a lot of the original features of the... More

Step inside and go back in time to the days of Sir John A MacDonald. Lovingly restored and decorated in the days of the 1800's the Dundurn estate is a popular tourist destination

Thank you for your review. Dundurn Castle tells the history of Sir Allan MacNab and his family when they lived at Dundurn from 1830s to 1860s. Costumed interpreters take you on a guided tour of the home which is open year round. More

Striking mid 1800s mansion with a small museum highlighting the history of the area, and of the property. The grounds even in wintertime are lovely and afford a great view down over the Escarpment to the city and LakeOntario beyond. you can almost imagine what this place was like nearly 200 years ago as you squint through the stately trees...
