Incredible experience...put it on your bucket list. Bring your own skates and do the 7.8 k loop. Eat a Beaver tail...didn't know I wanted one and now I need six😎

It is a wonderful thing to do. It is very convenient. Benches and picnic tables are provided at locations on the ice to put on skates. It is a must do if in Ottawa during the winter.

The Rideau Lockstations are a very intentive constructions. 7 locks make the Rideau Canal drop 24m. Here the Rideau Canal flows in the Ottawa River. From the Alexandra Bridge aswel the bridge at Wellington Street close to the Fairmont hotel offer a great sight.

No. It is open to the public. the ice skate rink only during winter time.
