Must try Beaver tails and hot chocolate!! Amazing experience. The ice had some rough patches and was rather crowded down near km 1 but still a great winter activity.

Always beautiful, winter and summer. Especially visit the bridge at Somerset street - it is a foot path only but has all the lovelocks attached to it, echoing the Parisienne one.

Enjoyed a run along the Rideau. Very well marked and safe. Would recommend this route for any business runner. Many runners in early hours so safe for all genders.

Stunning to walk along in Summer, Spring and Autumn. In winter you are able to skate on it. Definitely worth checking out

A skate on the Rideau canal is a must do if you are a skater. A walk along the snowy side or a visit at 5th Ave. for non-skaters is also quite fun. Dress warmly and have a Beaver Tail! Not the place to learn how to skate. Recommend hockey or leisure type skates rather than figure skates. Keep an... More

We went skating on the Canal and Dow's lake and it was super fun! There is even a beaver tails on the lake for an after-skate snack. There is really nothing to complain about. Even on a -25 day, the canal had plenty of skaters.

The Rideau Canal is a very enjoyable walk or bike ride. You can go right from Carleton University to the Parliament buildings. The sidewalks are wide and bikes and people share with no problems that I could see.

Another great few days skating the Rideau Canal. Conditions were great considering the mild weather. Turned out that the canal closed the day after we left and wasn't able to reopen for 2017. Will be back next year!

We were here I think the day the full canal was opened, and boy it was busy! We went mid afternoon and it was jam packed with people, but somehow it is still manageable to skate. They have lots of facilities along the way, washrooms, food, places to warm up, benches to rest, it is really well done. The only... More
