This is a small museum, but good. Half the fun is watching the canals right outside the museum. Even if you do not pay to go through the museum, you can step in to buy food, dessert, drink, souvenirs, and use the restroom.

Enjoyed learning about the history of Ottawa, and about the role of Colonel By. Did not realize the pain and suffering and loss of life that went into the building of the canal and lock system

This museum explains how and why the locks were built. Its located in the oldest building in Ottawa which lends itself to this extraodinary time in Canada's history

This isn't a big museum, but it's very well done. It gives a nice compact view of the history of the canal and the surrounding neighborhoods. They provide an audio guide which was well done. The only problem was the crowds were so loud it...More
