Beautiful views of the river, great for sunset. Can either drive, or take a walk, jog, bike ride, or cross country ski along the trail. Can get pretty backed up at rush hour, but I bring all my visiting friends and family along this route for the gorgeous sunset views.

I have traveled from Westboro beach to behind the War Museum with cross country skis. You can travel in the classic or skating style since there is a groomed trail between the two classic tracks. View is great! Lots of people! dog walkers, use your snowshoes or take a great stroll. It is well worth the time!

I was a commuter to Ottawa for years and have a personal pet peeve about the so-called scenic route signage along the 416 that directs you through a horrible route through newer subdivisions before getting to Hunt Club! Instead, as you get to the 417 near IKEA, where traffic often grinds to a standstill, take Woodroffe North (left) it jogs... More

but watch your speed - it's only 60 km/h. In the summer it's closed on Sunday's for people to use. And the flowers are nice in the spring.

From it's humble start on Carling Avenue in the west end, take the whole parkway into Ottawa or Gatineau across the river into Quebec. Only a few years ago or so this was known as the Ottawa River Parkway and many locals will still refer to as so. It's a wonderful scenic drive and a not well known except by... More

The Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway is a great way to travel from downtown to the west end of Ottawa. When driving along the Parkway recently, it made us realize how lucky we are in Ottawa to have so many large beautiful green spaces. Although it is November, there were still lots of people walking, jogging and biking. There are... More

If not for the scenic route, this would simply just another artery in the clogged traffic system of Ottawa. With the 417 being such a terrible experience, at times, many will use this parkway to get from point A to B, and it shows. Particularly around Island Park, which links to the Champlain Bridge heading into Aylmer, it can be... More

The parkway is extremely nice and would be excellent for a good walk. It's nice to be essentially at the border of two pieces of history in the nation and how much has happened along the river edge.

For our two week stay in Ottawa, my husband & I rented a Airbnb condo in the Nepean area. This scenic parkway connected this west end area of Ottawa with the downtown. It was so much less stressful than driving on the freeway. The views of green space, parks, the Ottawa River, bridges, trees, gorgeous flower beds, joggers, bikers, picnickers,... More
