I really enjoyed my visit! They went all-out to re-equip this fort, every building I went into was loaded. The people/actors were topnotch, really into their characters and very knowledgeable about fur trading and 1816 times. There is a lot of walking, not only is...More

I've been coming since it opened, first as a child, now I bring my children. A lot of fun, and very educational. Will be going again this year when we visit TB.

My grade 4/5 class spent an overnight trip at Fort William Historical Park. Safety concerns due to high water led to the cancellation of our canoe trip and the visit of a small bear near the wigwam made us decide to sleep in the East...More

What a great family outing at Fort William Historical Park. The historical interpreters/actors are fantastic and the grounds are impressive. We spent a day at the park and were engaged by staff, had fun watching baby animals, toured the historic buildings and walked along the...More

Has dozens of trained re-enactors dressed in 1814 costumes. They explain the buildings and life at a voyageur trading post. The "living history" reminds me of Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, but with more of a frontier setting (and much less expensive to enter). The location...More

Our tour guide was extremely knowlegable and taught us a great deal about Canadian history. Wonderfully kept grounds, animals were awesome and the cafe food good for the price.

This is a wonderful way to see and learn about the fur trade and Canadian history. Rendezvous week is especially full of events but is busy. It does get hot in the summer. The native encampment is also very interesting and fun for children. Great for...More

Very interesting seeing how it was and how far we've come in living style. Special Events like renactment of War of 1812 were incredibly organized with rehearsed actors, gun fire, hidden pyro technics, etc.

We plan to visit in July. Does everything close at 5:00 or are there things you can still look at outside the fort? (like the native encampment, the farm, or the hike on Wilderness Island)

Sometimes there are sponsored events outside the fort by the parking areas. I would check the event schedule to see what might be happening in July. Enjoy your visit!
