Kids enjoyed the amusement park, we enjoyed the relaxing time on the beach looking at Toronto's skyline, and all enjoyed the cruise on the lake! Great spots all over the island for a picnic. Iconic to Toronto for sure and won't disappoint for any age for a great day out!

Take a quick ferry ride to get to the best view of the city. Great place to take kids as they can't get run over by cars. Centreville is perfect for toddlers. Great to rent a bike or paddle around.

Lots of activities to do. Picnic, rides, bike rental, beach. Kids always have fun on the ferry. Overall a nice place for a relaxing summer day.

It's definitely an interesting place. We rented bikes and saw small cozy cottages, went on rides and the nude beach....well maybe that was one area where we could have not gone to and wouldn't have missed out on anything, but overall a good day and the kids were happy having fun.

We visited on our last day. On the ferry over you get a great View of the Toronto skyline. At the other end it's very scenic. There is a beach and nice areas to walk although in the day we visited it was so cold (-8) we literally didn't 30 minutes wandering and taking pictures and got on the ferry... More

I can't wait to go back here it's beautiful. I went in May and quite a few of the places there were not in season, if you want to make the most of it I'd advise you go in summer. I went in May and still had an amazing time here.

I have been going to the Toronto Islands since I was a kid. There is always something to do for every age level. Pack a picnic and go walking for a day, hit Centre Island, relax on the beach, rent bicycles and ride around. Ferry ride is always a hit with the kids :)

Been there few times and enjoyed it every time! The place is usually busy in summer and I don't think it is a relaxing kinda beach but I think it is a great place.

One of our favourite activities is taking our bikes on the ferry to Toronto Islands. There are miles of bike paths across all the Islands. Beautiful sites and no cars! While there, it's always nice to stop for lunch on the outdoor patio at the Rectory Cafe. As with any visit to Toronto Islands, get to the ferry early as... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
