Harbourfront Theatre opened its doors in 1996, the result of more than a decade of tireless effort on the part of a group of Summerside citizens with a vision to create a state of the art, multi purpose performing arts facility in Prince County. The theatre, along with the Eptek Art & Culture Centre and the Summerside Visitor Information Centre, is housed in The Wyatt Centre, aptly named after one of the facility's major contributors, Dr. Wanda Wyatt. Harbourfront Theatre is owned by Regional Cultural Events Centre Inc., a registered non-profit organization managed by a board of directors, general manager, and director of operations, and boasts a friendly, knowledgeable, professional staff and a dedicated core of over 90 volunteers. Its mission is "to provide a continuous live entertainment service to the Prince Edward Island community and its visitors, featuring both local and touring productions, while being a significant driving force within the community to encourage and nurture the development and appreciation of the performing arts." The facility is ideally suited to a myriad of uses, including plays, concerts, opera, ballet, comedy & magic shows, conferences, seminars, receptions, business mixers, trade shows and public forums. Beautifully appointed and state of the art equipped, the Harbourfront Theatre represents the best of both worlds - large enough to host renowned touring acts, yet small enough so that every one of its 527 seats captures a uniquely intimate performer/audience experience.

This is a smaller theatre on the harbour front of Summerside. Attractions very from comedy, musical to plays. It is located extra to accommodations plus restaurants as well as seasonal shopping. The parking available is more the an adequate with easy access in and out.

I had never been to this venue before, but when I saw the Four Tellers were performing there, I had to get tickets. The theatre is lovely and we had nice seats in the second row from the stage. Nice and close considering the type of show it was. The story telling was engaging and humorous and the theatre was... More

We were visiting friends on Prince Edward Island (PEI). They purchased tickets to the Harbourfront Theatre for the 20th anniversary of the theatre. Fidler's Son and the Ellis Family Band were playing that night. The concert hall was sold out so I was expecting a nice evening of music. The concert was great as both bands were local to the... Very surprised to find such quality and friendly service in a local venue. We checked out a up and coming group at a backstage event...Port Cities, performed an amazing intimate show. Would definitely return for more shows given the opportunity! Job well done!

This is a great local theatre to have that brings good entertainment to downtown Summerside. It's a cozy, comfortable theatre and all the seats are perfectly good. We have especially enjoyed their "movie nights" - one Halloween they played a double bill of Goonies and The Shining (free of charge!). One summer they played a different Hitchcock classic film every... More
