Our city tour of Montreal was on October 14, 2016. I am writing up our experience as I never received a response to a written complaint. Because of accessibility issues we arranged to be picked up at our Hotel. Somehow we were forgotten though we kept making inquiries. When we were finally picked up the tour was half over and... Pretty good tour of Montreal. They picked us up at our hotel but at end of tour told us to walk back to our hotels. Over 1 mile for us not good for us since spouse is scheduled for knee replacement. Another woman had to walk home even though she was using a cane. Guide was very knowledgeable spoke multiple... More

I can't say enough about how amazing our time with Frank was! We were in Montreal for a few days and I surprised my mother with this tour...which she loved. Frank has an energy about him that made learning about history a lot more fun than usual! We learned lots of things and heard many jokes on our ride around... More

Terrible service. Had I known the hoops I would have to jump through to book with Gray Line Montreal Sightseeing, I would've easily picked a different tour company. Their archaic booking service requires the consumer to book and then confirm separately. I booked this tour on a Thursday for a tour that was to take place on a Saturday -... More

We were in Montreal for the Labor Day weekend to celebrate our son's birthday. We booked this tour to give us an overview of the city before we started doing things on our own. We saw Old Montreal, Parc de Mont Royale, Olympic Parc, McGill University, St. Joseph Oratory, Notre Dame Basilca and Ile St. Helene. It was a terrific... More

Took this tour because I had only one full day and it was too cold to explore on foot. We just a couple of very short stops along the way, but not enough time to really see anything. I'd rather do a true hop-on hop-off tour where you can spend time at your leisure when you get to a point... More

Ok, we weren't exactly hostages, since over half the people did leave early -- some at regular stops and some just demanded to be let out anywhere so they could uber back to their hotels. We hung on until the very end, over 5 hours and saw every stop light in Montreal. They never did explain why we weren't taking... More

Having always wanted to be a tourist in my own city, I took this 3 hour tour with 18 other people. The guide was informative, explained the more interesting historical points of the city and was very friendly. Unfortunately, it was an extremely foggy day so the picture-taking opportunities for "real" tourist didn't work out - we couldn't even see... More

My wife and I are not looking for standard tourist seasons, so we visited Montreal for 2 days last week, and on Dec 01 we took the only available during this time of the year way of touring town - Gray Line bus with a dual language tour, which is typical for city tours. It all started perfectly fine, we... More

Wonderful way to see the attractions of Montreal and get a narrative of each one along the way. Got to see things we likely would not have if we were on our own. The Olympic stadium, the Expo 67 site, Mont Royal and others. They were too spread apart to get to as we took the train to Montreal and... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
