beautiful and must visit Cathedral

The Cathedral has really amazing interior design. The statues and decorative arts on the walls are beautiful. The ceiling and windows designed very artistic.

Super nice cathedral. Really beautiful. Small and elegant. Concerts are often held there and that is amazing. This month quite bit of piano concerts. Really nice.

Very pretty church! We happened upon a Christmas program and stayed for about half of it. Of all the places we visited in Montreal, this was the place I felt the least welcome. Locals all over the city were helpful and fairly friendly, but we were glared at and made to feel very out of place here.

I would describe this church as pretty but not impressive. Maybe it just isn't my architectural style. It's worth a peek if you're in the neighborhood.

Well worth a visit. If you see Notre Dame first in Old Montreal this won't compare but they structure is magnificent. Enjoy it, worth a visit. Also there was no charge to go inside whereas as Notre-Dame is is $5 CAD per person.

The design of this cathedral is quite unique, from the outside as well as the inside. I have never seen a church like this.

P[en chorus rehearsals and performances at select times . . . whether or not you go ro a service or just want to appreciate the brilliantly beautiful chorus, it's definitely worth the stop. All sorts of other stuff going on at this lovely place. Always worth checking the weekly event schedule.

We took the metro from Champ-de-Mars station near our hotel in Old Montreal to the Underground City before we attended the Sunday afternoon "Evensong Choral Concert" at this magnificent cathedral. The classic Gothic architecture transports one back into another time. Nearby is Hudson's Bay Company department store.

We did not go inside but it is beautiful with a skyscraper behind it. Makes for an interesting photo opportunity. I am attaching a picture. Go see for yourself!

Set back above Rue St. Catherine West, Christ Church Cathedral is enough to make any English ex-pats feel like they'd been momentarily transported back across the Atlantic as both inside and out it resembles a typical English Parish Church. It's in classic Victorian gothic of a whitish grey stone. The side aisles roof buttresses the central high nave and it's... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
