My husband and I were here for a long weekend. Stacy ran the tour on a freezing cold Saturday. She kept us very entertained in the cold. We lived that it was a history tour of Old Montreal as well as a food tour. The tastings started off very small but delicious. Stacy also waited at the first stop for... More

My husband and I did took the Flavors of Old Montreal walking tour on a recent visit to Montreal. We have taken similar tours in many cities on our trips and always felt we had a true sampling of the local foods of an area. This tour was A LOT of history and lecturing and very little food. A cookie,... More

Ronald our tour guide was great! Very informative and lots of great back story on history of food as it affected Montreal. Easy walk and starting early really helps when it is warm. Food was great. Highly recommend

My wife, daughter and I heard about the tour from a friend. Although we grew up in Montreal we have lived in California for 30 years. Our guide was named Ronald Poiré and I would highly recommend him. As we walked through Old Montreal he was able to provide a fantastic historical perspective and was extremely knowledgable. He is also... More

I am generally one of those kinds of people who prefer to explore a new city on my own, but I am glad I made an exception for this jewish food tour. As a jewish Montrealer himself, Darren was able to provide a great street level experience that often did not feel like a formal "tour" to me. Great job... More

Our guide Greta offered a fun and knowledge tour of this neighborhood. Chocolate, bagels, hand crafted meat and cheese, and finally ice cream = what's not to love. There was also some history of the city and neighborhood. Great into to Montreal .

If you can get a food tour with Vera Khouri do it!!! You get a great selection of the ethnic flavors of Montreal and a terrific history lesson to go with it. Vera has a great personality and is very knowledgeable. She knows the neighborhoods and the people who run the restaurants know and love her. This is a 3... More

Our group of 35 people took the Mile End Montreal food tour. Our first stop was Fairmount Bagel where we were given a fresh sesame seed bagel was which excellent. Next we went by bus to Le Marche des Saveurs du Quebec where we sampled different food items (very small portions). After that we went by bus to Little Italy... More

We had high hopes for the Mile-End food tour based on other Trip Advisor reviews. This was a NOT a food tour, pre se, but more of a tasting tour and not a great one at that (think Costco samples). That being said, there are so many choices when it comes to restaurants in this area, one could spend an... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
