Upper Town

Fun to walk around and poke around in all the shops. Lots of history. Wear comfortable shoes - lots of photo ops.

First of all, you have the Chateau Frontenac, which his an attraction all in itself. But then there's the place, the fountain, the churches, the view from the promenade, and so much more! Take your time in this place!

The Upper Town packs quite a punch for being rather a small area. It's easy to walk around, plenty of restaurants and charm!

Most tourists end up at the Upper Town. After all, the most renowned edifices are located here. La Citadelle cannot be missed as it is located at the highest point of this town. It’s quite majestic with all its canons. While walking, we encountered the old Fortifications. We were able to walk on them and see some outstanding views! Eventually,... More

We spent a lot of time here during our 4 day visit. Plenty of unique and interesting shops and terrific restaurants and cafes all around. A very warm and inviting atmosphere and merchants are quite friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

My 1st destination was Upper Town (Haute-Ville) ~ the political, educational, & religious nerve center of both the province & the country during much of the past 4 centuries. No other place in Canada has had so much history passing through such a small spot. Hard to imagine it was a barren, windswept cape when Samuel de Champlain decided to... More

Just walking around the Upper Town makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. The Chateau Frontenac dominates it all, with loads of churches, squares, restaurants, shops, and charming old (authentic) buildings all around. Feels like visiting France without the jet lag!

Fun to walk along St. Jean Street, eat at the Erico chocolate shop (try the amazingly rich and thick Decadent hot chocolate), eat at the Hobbit, and shop at the J.A.Moisan grocery store.
