This part of Quebec City, busier than Lower Town, is just lovely and walkable (with hills). So many things to do, from historical sites to lots of shopping and many quite good restaurants. The locals are friendly, even with traditional French, and there are many local artisans who put out beautiful quality goods. I even ended up having some things... More

This old world city is a charming and lively place as well as a World Heritage site. Much history of Canada here as the site of de Champlain's home base, the battle of the Plains of Abraham for rule in Quebec, and the culture of the Quebecois. We loved the restaurants, the boardwalk overlooking the river and Lower Village, the... More

This is the newer section so you don’t get the same feel as the lower town. It was fun to spend the day just wandering around and checking out all the shops and sites.

Having been to Europe 40 times (exactly) this felt like my 41st trip. It has the old world charm that draws me back to europe so many times. The townwall with it's old town gates adds to that feel. Exploring the old town is relaxing and exciting for the hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.

We stayed in the Rue Saint-Jean area so parking was not a problem. We could walk everywhere, including the Lower Town. Great shops and restaurants/cafes. We stayed almost a week and found plenty to do. Museums are very interesting and cultural events are pretty much always available. Check for festivals and special events before traveling. Sometimes convenient accommodations can be... More

We drove around the upper town as we could not find a place to park (unlike lower town) but even so, we saw so much to admire that we have decided to return some day and spend a number of days, just getting to know more about this amazing and charming Old City!

Streets were sparkling in cleanlingnes and people have a conscience to keep it that way. There's everything you can imagine from top rate hotels to top rate restaurants. Very accesible city with ample streets and roads.

Walk around and enjoy little shops, people and European charm. You won't regret even if you go there just to wander around

Haute-Ville (Upper Town) is a very large area with many competing and compelling interests, on one hand you have a huge Chateau that is both interesting and gaudy and on the other hand you have beautiful narrow cobblestone streets with Historical buildings galore. The funicular brings you up from Basse-Ville to Haute-Ville in a few minutes and your first site... More
