If you enjoy walking take the time to walk in and through the main gates into the fortified old city. It is fun to see the different styles of houses and buildings and the large number of churches. It is worth taking a city tour to get the most information.

This old historical gate shows still a part of the old city wall, but is surrounded by modern buildings.

This is my first travel after graduation. I've been to Quebec sometimes, because I love the scenery there. When I visited there, there were many travelers for daytime, but a few on morning. People who went there can see beautiful sunrise over the river. You do not miss it! * I visited... More

On the way to the Citadelle you can climb to the top of the city walls at the St. Louis Gate and walk atop the wall. There are some nice views and with the fortifications being a prominent feature of the city it is something that seemed like a must do to us.

After we parked the truck, we walked through this portal to get into the old city. It was walking into another world and back into history

Part of the original fortification for the Old Quebec city.... One can walk over or drive under but is a lasting reminder of the glorious history that is Quebec !!

These gates are something to see and of course give you access to the walled part of the city. This one is located close to the Citadel. There is also an entrance for those who are just walking vs driving through the gate.

Its part of the city. You can walk under it and walk over it and continue walking along the walls to immerse yourself in old Quebec. Beautiful by night too albeit a bit spooky!
