The views here are amazing, and the only place you can see the entire Golden Gate Bridge with the city as a backdrop. It's also free. It can get completely fogged in but peeks through the fog are also great!

The GGNRA encompasses so much that it cannot be seen in one day. Some of the things to do are Muir Woods/Beach, Nike Missile sites, The Cliff House/Sutro Baths, Crissy Field, Fort Point, Point Bonita, Fort Mason, Stinson Beach, Point Bonita Lighthouse and Presidio. It is really up to you how much you want to see and do in this... More

In the end this was the highlight of our trip. We took the scenic, one-way route on the coast all the way to the end. Took long walks at the edge of the cliffs, we even saw a herd of deers! The landscape is beautiful, interesting vegetation, the shrubs/bushes are colorful, everything so quiet and the views are out of... More

once upon a time the people of San Francisco had little knowledge of what was the seaward of Highway 101 on the Marin Headlands. From the 1800’s it was a military reservation, it has now been turned into a recreational area. Entry into the area is via a one way tunnel that alternates 5 minutes in opposite directions. There is... More

If you're in San Fran, you must go see this iconic landmark! There are several places you can view the bridge...some higher elevation and then actually on the bridge. If you don't mind the wind and chill, you can walk across the bridge.

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, so peak time for crowds during the summer. I will say that even with that - we still easily found a place to park and wandered around the beautiful area to take some fantastic pictures of the Golden Gate bridge. I would also recommend driving around the park to see the Point Bonita... More

A must see in SF. Simply stunning sights, golden gate, Alcatraz, wharf areas, good food places nearby and best pictures.

We walked around here for a while on a Sunday evening, and we weren't expecting much, but it was one of the highlights of our trip! Beautiful area!

I live in San Francisco but each time I leave the city and cross the Golden Gate Bridge, I always stop and drive up the hill to take a photo. You never know what type of photo you will get because it can be clear one minute, then the fog rolls in and your view is gone in a split... More

I had been to the bridge area a few times in the past and saw a couple of the military gun placement areas. BUT, today was the first time I have driven all the way through to Rodeo Beach. Those mountains North of the bridge are full of tunnels and gun placement areas....
