Lovely on a calm day

I drive past this harbour at least four times a day, on a calm day it is beautiful to see the reflections of the hills, rocks, birds etc.

Drive to the end of Onepoto Road where there is a large car park, also public toilets. From here you can take a short - or long walk - on a good track - first alongside some of the boat sheds and then the harbour itself. This walk is good any time of day, especially when blowing a strong Northerly... More

The Harbour changes its outlook many times over the days and months and not one day is better than the other. Whether it is raining, windy or sunny it is always a lovely place to walk around and going along the walk past the Onepoto Boatsheds you see swans, Canadian Geese and other bird-life.

I love driving past the harbour, it looks different every day. I love it when it's calm and there's a reflection of the hills around. Also at night when the lights reflect off the water.

Locals won't notice how beautiful this harbour is because they look at it every day. It is surrounded by beautiful bush and picturesque trees. The low hills give it a lovely backdrop and the colourful bathing boxes make it just that bit more unique. Drive through when you are heading over to the Hutt Valley from Porirua - see for... More

Beautiful views to be had, can even see the South Island. My children enjoyed climbing over the huge rock formations and seeing the aquatic life. They found a starfish and thought that was wonderful. Accessed by Whitireia Park it is a hidden gem! Highly recommended for a free activity.

Nice parks. Clean foreshore. The area has a modern reasonably priced and efficient train service to town or up to Waikenae

When the tide is high it looks rather pretty but when the tides out and you can see the bottom its rather gross. Have done multiple clean ups in and around the Porirua harbour and I wouldnt swim or touch anything in or around it. The Porirua City Council need do there job and save this harbour before its destroyed... More

Always home. On a nice day the blue harbour looks stunning as it spreads out towards Porirua City, parallel to the motorway, and also fills the wide Pauatahanui basin. Surrounded by hills and dotted with houses, the Porirua Harbour is a wonderful playground for humans as well as animals and birds. Porirua Harbour's eastern side has a coastal walk, as... More

I have to drive along Porirua Harbour to and from Titahi Bay daily and sometimes the view is so spectacular this it takes your breath away. There are walkways and cycling tracks around a good part of the Harbour, and often there are boating events to be enjoyed - either as a spectator or participant. If you enjoy mini-putt there...
