nice long beach, too many vendors

Beautiful and long beach, you can walk for hours. Many stray dogs on the beach. We are dog lovers so we were not bothered. The vendors kept following us. There were many vendors... read more

We played the golf course of the amanara resort "playa grande" and ended up paying USD 340.- What was nasty about this: when we inquired on the phone prior to our visit the information we received was that green fee is USD 250.- Once in the proshop the lady at the counter informed us that the greenfee is USD 250... What was once a great golf coarse is now closed to the public. I drive by there at least once a month and have yet to see anyone golfing. The only way to get on the coarse is to buy an overpriced house on their property. Simply pathetic.

The place is empty because the brothers of the bonfires of the vanities from New York want this place to themselves...it is way to expensive...not worth the drive to get there and is ready for the aman group to take it over...what a complete and utter waste of a beautiful track of land..the only people who play here come by... At one time this course was spectacular as far as the views but the course was in poor shape. Then the Aman group took over and made It almost impossible to play unless you have the big money to spend. This property is a good two hour drive from Puerto Plata and unless you pay the ridiculous price to stay... More

The newly redone Playa Grande golf course is a challenging but fair with tons of fun spots to drive the green over the cliffs to try for that eagle or birdie! Reese Jones is extraordinarily talented.

I played this course back in 2011 and thought it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been except the course was in terrible shape and nobody cared about it. I played this course the other day expecting the conditions to improve after the major redesign because of Aman resorts. The conditions were still terrible and they... More

My golf buddy's and I have played this golf course from aprox. 2003 to 2013. Every year the course got worse but the layout around the ocean was spectacular. The staff and caddy's became our friends and were very personable. Now that the Aman group have taken over they have re done the golf course and it should be amazing.... More

I played this course many years ago; spectacular location, course not in very good shape. Ive been looking to play again, have inquired about course status multiple times. Look at the photos of the course - fairways look like the grass/sod was laid in the dark....I think I will travel elsewhere. I've also inquired of Rees Jones about the course... More

Almost every hole on this beautiful golf course has an incredible view of the Caribbean, and is fun to play.
