That is a big and impressive monastery and cathedra. The greatest impression is when you look at it from a distance but ... when you come closer it is still impressive!

Easy to get here by a minibus from Telavi. A peaceful, fantastic place with some restored frescoes. Wander around the church, enjoy the musical service if you are there on time. Monks wander around adding to the charm..

Approaching the Cathedral I was impressed. It is stunning and the Cathedral itself once inside is massive. On the day I was there I could not walk around as they were doing maintenance work around the grounds.

A must see if you are in the region. A simply astonishing piece of medieval architecture in what looks like the middle of nowhere.

One of the most impressive monasteries in the region of Telavi. Lots of history, and a magnificient landscape around the monastery, including a nice vineyard.
