We made an effort to visit this castle ruin mid-October, 2017. Except for a small snack area, everything was closed. The ruins are being restored and are not very impressive, although the view is beautiful. Even if the restaurant was open, I wouldn't invest the...More

This is one of the best-preserved medieval ruins in this part of Germany. Make sure you go all the way up - the views are stupendous. Also, both the restaurant and the self-service kiosk are very good. And the surrounding area is excellent for hiking.

Fairly aggressive trek up to the castle from the closest parking area. Some cafe and restaurant opportunities inside the grounds. Very nice vistas on all sides. Not much protection from the weather unless you're inside the restaurant. Very small as castles go, primarily a ruin.

This is a well-preserved castle with some recent historical significance. It provides stunning views of the Neckar Valley and on sunny days you can watch the hang-gliders soar from the nearby cliffs. There's a very good restaurant within the castle, as well as a little...More

The castle ruins have been partially restored. The restaurant has good food. They also have occasional medieval dinners with entertainment.

Hohenneuffen offers restaurant and refreshment facilities in a restored castle ruin approximately 45 minutes from Stuttgart Airport. Have had dinner and attended a wedding reception there. Excellent service and high culinary standard, particularly local Swabian specialities and local wines . Access can be a challenge...More

It's about 25 minutes, all uphill but worth the effort for the spectacular views over Nagold. The path is well marked and easy underfoot but the slope may be a challenge - just take your time. There was a pre-school grip ahead of us, some...More

You approach the castle from the woods on one side and walk roe about 20 mins from the car park - quite a bit of it uphill (hope you're reasonably fit). That means you won't get a sense of how the castle perches on the...More

We hiked from below the ruins in a wide circle that included the castle as a mid-way point. It was a Sunday, there were falcon shows at the castle for a fee. There were two beer gardens and a sit down restaurant. The food at...More

Sitting atop mount... something, this marvellous example of medieval workmanship can be seen from miles around. Sited about 40-mins drive from Stuttgart, you can reach about 400 metres from the entrance. Even then, it is a steep climb to the actual entrance. However, once you...More
