We visited this place en route to Jeita Grotto. It was Mohammed our brilliant tour guide (msg me if you want his details) who recommended going via en route, he dropped us off and waited for us while we took the breathtaking ride up. The cable car is small and holds only two people so you do feel pretty exposed to the ground below. The ascent is pretty steep, so if you have vertigo you will really feel it.
The view is amazing at the top, with the backdrop of the hills behind you to the city and sea below. There is a modern church next to Harissa but only really open when there is a service. Some people opt to drive up the hill to get to Lady.
I found it a nice relaxing place, surrounded by nice trees and benches to sit and admire the view. There is a cafe in a carpark around if you want drinks and snacks.
My Advice: Add this to your itinerary, go early and spend a couple of hours.

Similar to other religious statue monuments (like Rio’s Christ Redeemer), Lebanon’s statue of the Virgin Mary, in Harissa overlooks a coastal city and has beautiful views. We took the cable car down from the statue which was also fun.

I enjoyed first the Telefleque journey , then the view of the bey .
It can not described by such words you have to see the amazing statue and the city view from the top , from the mountain up and highest point

The trip up is great, a 530 m ascent on the Teleferique. You can feel the peace when you arrive and the atmosphere with its peaceful music is just so relaxing. People talk softly and it is just so welcoming. The statue of the Virgin Mary with her arms outstretched is quite symbolic welcoming everybody. She overlooks the Jounieh bay and the views are so rewarding. I absolutely loved the very modern St Paul's Basilica which sits 3500 worshippers. It was a pity that it was closed. The architecture is magnificent, for me it imitated the veil of the nuns. Well worth a visit to the Harissa!

If you haven't visited Our lady of Lebanon, then you got to visit it. Take the cable car up and experience the magical view of the Jounieh city. It was Built in 1908 and it's located on the edge of the mountain. has an amazing view. Peaceful place, best time to visit is during the weekdays less people, more quite, and better time for meditation. Love it and will continue to visit over and over again.

Beautiful view at night. Quite a climb to the top, but the incline was not too steep. Visitors were quiet and reverent.

Telefrique or cable cars is the one of the most interesting experience and is the fastest way to get there from jounieh. A Peaceful place with a great view of Beirut and the Lebanese coast. Another interesting thing is that at the entrance you can find some Lebanese cedars!
it is usually crowded especially during the weekends...

Hi,
I was wondering how much time we need in Harissa if we're doing a day trip from Beirut?
Thank you
Written 6 February 2019
Can probably do the cable car from the bottom, walk around and back down again in just over a hour, with 2 hours more than enough.

Can i go in the church with shorts? Or do i have to wear normal long pants?
Written 24 August 2017
Normally it's better to have long pants but if the short is not so short that's ok ... in general you have only small indication mentioning the code of wearing but in general if it is not too short no one will say anything ... no control or checking
