Persuade your guide to obtain the key so that you can visit this fascinating geological area at sunset. To reach the cliffs you pass through one of the last remnants of savannah land which once stretched halfway across Brazil but which has now been given over almost exclusively to soya production. The savannah lands of the Mato Groso are as... More

You need to have tour guide to take you because the location is gated off and only certified guides have the key. Also the drive is pretty crazy. You have to drive through a lot of sand. We did it in our rental car without 4wd and we were fine. It was all around worth it.the while experience driving, hiking,the... More

From available photos and reports I was looking forward to getting to these cliffs, but was in now way prepared when I finally stood on the edge! It is absolutely an awesome natural monument and is like nowhere on the planet. The grandeur is yet just a portion of why this is such an important place as it holds a... More

Hired car, driver and guide for the three of us, so this is not a budget expedition. The road there is long bumpy and a mix of dirt and sand. Walking to the viewpoints along the rim was fun but the heat was intense and by the time we got back to town, we were spent. Since you have to... More

Our experience was similar to the previous review, I think you can only enter with an official guide as the key to the gate is collected from the guards and needs to be returned by 17:15.hr. The views are spectacular, after a long drive we parked and then walked to three different viewing points, we were also lucky to see... More

I am still not sure exactly what Cidade de Pedra is or where it is. I saw only one random sign for it during our stay. I think the site referred to in many guide books where you can walk about among the rocks is closed. The closest we got was the Mirante (viewpoint) which is at the top of... More

It's breathtaking and awesome. Get a guide however otherwise you shall never reach the place and you would miss something my husband and I considered worth while flying 12 hours over to Brazil. No words can describe what we saw (and we are experienced travellers!). Just sit down and keep silent and let this magnificent world get under your skin.

Cidade de Pedra is closed sinse 2008. You can not go there with guide or without guide, but almost nobody is talking about this, even on the oficial site of city Chapada dos Guimaraes they still didn't put information, they just put attractive information about Cidade de Pedra. And than you arrived in National park you find that even tour... More

The view is amazing, you will be able to see many canyons. But look for a official guide to go.
