Small and simple compilation of representations of the craft of mundillo, or lace making. The museum is interesting but even better is a chat with the founder, Mocay, who envisioned and opened this in honor of his mother and countless other masters of this craft. Worth a wander and a conversation if you are in or around Moca and San... More

Amazing history of how lace making is connected to this town , how the art was almost lost and now revived because the museum gave artists a forum. Sr. Hernandez is very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the craft.

Mundillo is a craft of handmade bobbin lace and is still practiced on the Western part of the island. The museum is very small, free, right before the town square. The attendant /guide was excellent and very proud of the local expertise. There are many items on the walls, tables, display racks. All made of this very fine lace: hats,... More

If you like fabric or lacework, you would like this. Neat samples of beautiful dresses and other clothes made with lace, and other objects, too. Can see detail, and can buy bobbins and patterns if you want to do some work yourself. 10 minutes from Rincon.

The charming town of Moca is home to a small museum which traces the history of lace-making in Puerto Rico. The museum is free. The town is charming to walk around in and I recommend walking up the the main plaza.

Very important monument to the art of Mundillo (pronounced "moon-dee-jo"), which is a kind of "bobbing lace", and very unique to Moca. The exhibits are beautifully crafted examples of a tedious and delicate art. The best part is the wonderful service we received from the caretaker of the museum Mr. Benito Hernandez Vale, who it's also the President. He gave... More

Small museum located in downtown moca exhibiting the traditional bobbing lace techniques handed down from Spain. Was fortunate enough to have been able to get a tour by its director and found the history of this technique fascinating.

First off, you'll definitely want to call in advance to arrange a visit to this small but vital "shrine" to the craft of bobbin lace (aka "Mundillo") made famous in this humble town of Moca, PR. If you're from the NorthEast USA, the Moca area, with it's cows, farmland and wide open spaces, looks a lot like Massachusetts. The Museum... More
