What a hidden treasure! This was one of my families favorite places we visited on the North Island. We loved the personal family connection of our tour guide and the stories and information provided about glowworms and this cave.

We were pretty bummed when we had to cut Waitomo out of our trip because of the ticket cost, so when we saw the sign for Kawiti caves when driving up to Pai Hia, my sister and I had to stop and check it out. We weren't disappointed. At $20 NZ dollars a person, the 30 minute tour was well... More

The caves have the insect larvae that glow like stars in the night. Great tour buy family that own the property.

Owned and operated by a friendly and knowledgeable family, the caves are a nice little stop between Whangarei and Paihia for everyone in the family. Compared to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, this one offers "up to the face" views of the worms and their lights and the entrance fee is more affordable at NZ$25 per person. The guides will... More

Have driven past here on a number of occasions. Finally stopped with my husband and ten month old. I feel it is well worth the stop. It is a beautiful place. It is a reasonable price and the glow worm tour is interesting and cool. I love glow worms. Run by local Maori you get a good history of the... More

Loved this place. When we got there, we were welcomed warmly and while we were waiting for the next tour, they suggested we walk up a track to look at some very funky rock formations and the bush above the caves - well worth doing. The cave tour was fun and very informative and they take safety seriously. When they... More

This is an amazing tour to witness the famous glowworm caves. It is unbelievable how controlled the tour is so not to disturb the glowworms. It is a worthwhile tour if you are in this area.

This was amazing. The glow worms are incredible at this place. We have been to the glow worms in Waitomo, but I think this is better in that it's more personal and you get a lot closer. Our guide was great - excellent stories. Well worth a trip - $60 for the 5 of us - we would definitely come... More
