Mt Maunganui is superb. Gritty white sand. Heaps of accomodation. Good waves. And plenty of good bars, cafes and restaurants. If you are not a good swimmer or don't know how to deal with the sea and waves, be careful and swim between the flags....More

How beautiful is the mount beach. We go a lot with our grand children. Any time of year. They look for shells, climb rocks, build sand castles and of course swim. Drinks and ice creams are a must. Sparkling sea and white sand, paradise.

Most gorgeous beach I've ever been to. Really long, mostly stone free sand and gorgeous water that even in August was comfortable to swim in (in a wetsuit!). It's really well maintained and clean, and there are restricted no-dog areas. Good for beginners-moderate surfing to.
