Your winding mountain road trip, an hour or so from Chiang Mai, is rewarded with fresh air and beautiful mountain views. The neat orderly vegetable fields are very attractive, but also a frustration, considering they are there as a result of extensive destruction of the native forests. Efforts to make the farming more sustainable are to be applauded, but somewhat... More

The Royal project itself is a bit disappointing. It is far less spectacular than the Doi Ang Khang Royal project. On the other side the visit can be combined with other attractions along the road (route 1096) such as the Sai Nam Phung orchid farm, the Maesa elephant camp, the Siam insect zoo and several more. Together, this makes for... More

There are lots of coffee shops along the road to stop for a break. the road up to the Royal agricultural Project is paved but it is... More

This is an initiate of the king to prevent deforestation and poverty as well as opium production. Told to us by our guide this was to promote alternative crops for local farmers. Produce from these crops are used at the local projects restaurant which was a magnificent meal with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills.

Spectacular valley view from top of look-out! Friendly Hmong children in traditional costume for photo-shooting - not too pushy for tips. Nice restaurant overlooking valley below. Temperature is at least 2 to 3 degree lower than in Chiangmai city. Worth a drive up to this look-out point

I am a nature lover and I can enjoy a beautiful hilly landscape. Especially this one here I like very much. This has of course to do so, because I greatly admire all the royal projects. This here is one of 35 in the north of Thailand. We enjoy every day in Hua Hin chemical-free vegetables and fruits. Some of... More

- Full of thai tourists - Mountains view with small huts to have small meal - The way here is steep but the ambience is worth to try Buy strawberries along the way up there as it's cheap, fresh, and tasty!
